Thisbe Nissen

Thisbe Nissen is the author of two novels, The Good People of New York and Osprey Island, and a story collection, Out of the Girls’ Room and into the Night. She is also the co-author (with Erin Ergenbright) of The Ex-Boyfriend Cookbook, a collection of stories, recipes and art collages. Thisbe has taught at Columbia University, the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, Brandeis University, The New School, and in the low-residency MFA at Pacific University. She's now on the faculty at Western Michigan University. She and her husband, poet and writer Jay Baron Nicorvo, live on a farm outside Battle Creek, Michigan with their son, cats, and chickens. If she had any spare time in which to try to make art, Thisbe would be at work on a nearly-drafted novel, a nearly-done story collection, a couple novellas in desperate need of editing, numerous collaged kids' books, and a few patchwork quilts. But as things are, it's all she can do to stay on top of the laundry. (Insert sigh of frustration here.)
